Liz Maxwell - Interaction
March 16 - April 16, 2006

About the Artist
After earning a BA from UC Berkeley, Liz Maxwell studied art in summer sessions and weekend classes at CCAC (California College of Arts and Crafts). She has been involved in ProArts for 25 years, and her work has been shown in many exhibitions in the Bay Area, as well as across the country.

About the Exhibit
These recent paintings (2005 - 2006) result from various motivations involving personal concerns such as nature and its preservation, cosmology and the wonders of outer space, or mathematics and randomness. Once work begins on a painting suggested by one of these ideas, interaction with the appearance of the painting at a given moment leads to ideas about how to continue. The final result grows from a long conversation between the artist and the painting itself, as well as outside events and influences.
