Ed Dwight - Bronze Sculpture: He's Back!
October 14, 2005 - October 29, 2005

About the Artist
Ed Dwight can best be described as a true renaissance man. Not only does his resume read IBM marketing executive, aviation consultant, executive charter pilot, real estate and construction entrepreneur, former Air Force test pilot and America's first black astronaut trainee, he has excelled in all these fields. For the last twenty-eight years, however, Dwight has dedicated his prodigious talents to artistic endeavors.

In addition to having works in the Smithsonian Collection, the Library of Congress and various museums, Ed Dwight maintains an extensive collectors base and displays all over the world. After moving into public art, he has created and installed over ninety major sculptures and monuments honoring African Americans all over the country.

About the Exhibit
Since beginning his career in 1977, Dwight has become one of the most prolific and insightful artists in America, often addressing the African American experience. Indeed, his first commission, for the State of Colorado, was a series of bronzes entitled "Black Frontier Spirit in the American West," and his current project, and second set of bronzes, is "Jazz: An American Art Form."
