About the Exhibit
Chanco is inspired by her meditations and spiritual practice; both elements allow her to be come conscious of the "sacred in daily life". Chanco believes the discipline of painting in itself formulates a direct path to seeing the world around us more deeply and clearly. Chanco's intricate works inspire contemplation, serenity, and embolden viewers to look at things in a new and different way.

About the Artist Talk: "Seeing the Sacred Everyday"
Sunday, September 23, 2007 from 2:00 - 5:00pm

This talk is a dual exploration of how both spiritual practice and the discipline of painting can encourage seeing the sacred in more places around us. She will begin this exploration with a quote by Pema Chodron, renowned Tibetan Buddhist nun and dharma teacher, which explains how non-appreciation of the concept of impermanence in all things and beings lead to losing sight of the sacredness of life. Second will be the discussion of how painting can help one see the sacredness of life as well as an illustration of different ways that this manifests. Finally, the talk will end with ways in which all of us can strive to see the sacred in the mundane.
